Mariku’s
eyes snapped to Ryou’s so quickly and piercingly, it granted an easy
lesson of just how often he gazed off in a wandering stare whilst never
truly leaving the moment. “Where else would I have gone?” he murmured
with a subtle arch of his brow.
He raised the arm Ryou had touched, quite missing the feeling of the
delicate fingers on his skin, and leaned his elbow against the back of
the couch to rest his temple on his knuckles. “Tell me something,
Sugar,” he began, opting for a pet name instead of Ryou’s birth name to
establish a more authoritative position. “Can you see through his eyes
when he takes over, or can he see through yours? Who’s the stronger
one?”
Ryou half-shrugged, hiding the flicker of relief when Mariku spoke to him again. He licked his lips. “I wasn’t sure if Marik could have been fighting you. Or … is he not in there anymore?”Ryou sent Mariku an inquisitive glance at the pet name, butt then flinched a bit at the question, his features hardening. “I see through his eyes. I fight, but he’s got help. Which is basically cheating.” He snorted. “For someone who claimed to be a master gamer, the spirit wasn’t very good at sticking to the rules.”
"People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do." (Bakura muse from keytothering, if you're of a mind, if not don't worry and feel free to ignore ^^)
– – “What makes you so sure you know everything, then?” Ryou inquired, a hint of annoyance at the comment his darker half made. Such arrogance as that was what annoyed him.
“Oh, come now. Am I not allowed to check on my host?”
– – Somehow I wonder if it’s more or less mocking, considering you’re generally the cause of that in the first place.”
“You wrong me, host. It could be much worse.”
“In fact, you could say I’ve been extremely kind to you so far.”
➹- Amane submerged herself even more into the warm hug. She truly
missed this, how she would always greet Ryou from coming home from
school and hug him just as he comes in. ‘ Big brother!’ she’d yell as a
child as she threw her little self into his arms. Now that she was all
grown up, she couldn’t possibly do that even if she was still smaller
than him.
The girl felt the tight hug and she herself latched onto
him as if she never wanted to let him go.. just like she did years ago.
She could feel his heartbeat and this gave her another confirmation that
her brother was here and well.
“ You’re here..” She mumbled and sighed until she
lightly winced at his answer. Of course he doesn’t know she was a
freelance thief. His immediate thought would be being safe… getting her
safe. How could she explain to her Big Brother that it was fine and she
worked around here. Well, given the circumstances that she did die of a
dangerous incident, being at the underground area of the city wasn’t eve
near the word safe. So.. for now, she’d have to keep it secret.
“ O-okay.” Amane said trying to act like she was lost in
the alley and held his hand tightly. “ I-I think there’s a shortcut back
to the city where we can pass through.” She pointed at place where she
usually made her route where no thugs or thieves resided in. Roles were
reversed actually in this situation. Amane needed to protect her brother
from the possible dangers in this part of town.
“Come on.. I’m starting to not like it here..” She said tugging her brother and taking the lead unconsciously.- ➹
Ryou blinked, a little surprised when Amane pointed out the route as easily as breathing, and then began to lead him down it. He decided not to question, however, to relieved to have her back in his arms, and too keen to have them both safely out of these streets.
“I don’t like it here either,” he agreed with a nod, flicking a glance around the streets. He slipped his notepad back into his coat pocket and quickened his steps to match Amane’s pace. He kept glancing at her, sidelong, unable to keep his gaze away from his somehow-miraculously-alive sister.
“We can go to my apartment,” he murmured, sudden nerves jangling around in his stomach. “That is, if you don’t have somewhere - I mean, for all I know, you have your own house or family or .. something…”
Trailing off, Ryou gave a small laugh and tightened his grip around Amane’s fingers as they made their way out of the back alleys. “There’s so much we have to catch up on. I can’t believe you’re here!”
Touch meme: KNEE: “Don’t worry, I’m here for you.”
“I know, Ryou, I know” And I’m grateful for that.
“I just wanted you to be sure.” *smiles slightly*
He reached out to ruffle boy’s hair.
“Thank you”
Ryou shook his head, batting at the thief’s fingers with a low chuckle. He leaned against his shoulder with a sigh. “And you can stay as long as you need to.”
“You’re too kind, Ryou” he sighed, pulling boy closer.
“And you do realize that I won’t anyone hurt or disrespect you, don’t you?” Thief smirked.
Ryou allowed himself a smile. “I have my own personal bodyguard in the form of an ancient Egyptian thief. Nice.”
